Maddi Veersma drove in four runs on three hits to lead Zeeland West Varsity Dux past Zeeland East Varsity Chix 20-9 on Tuesday. Veersma hit a home run to center field in the second scoring two, singled in the fifth scoring one, and singled in the fifth scoring one.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as Zeeland West Varsity Dux collected 19 hits and Zeeland East Varsity Chix nine in the high-scoring affair.

Zeeland East Varsity Chix got on the board in the top of the first inning after Emme Meyering doubled to center field, and Jordynn Berens singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.

Zeeland West Varsity Dux tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a ground out by Emily Kragt, and a sacrifice fly by Megan Strabbing.

Zeeland West Varsity Dux flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on six hits to take the lead, 7-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to center field by Veersma that drove in two.

A home run to right field by Meyering gave Zeeland East Varsity Chix the lead, 9-7, in the top of the fourth.

Zeeland West Varsity turned the game back around in the bottom of the fifth, scoring 13 runs on 10 hits to take the lead, 19-9. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Madison Wyckoff that drove in two.

Wyckoff earned the win for Zeeland West Varsity Dux. The right-handed pitcher surrendered four hits and four runs (three earned) over three innings, striking out six and walking none. L Keur took the loss for Zeeland East Varsity Chix. The starting pitcher went four and one-third innings, giving up 17 runs (eight earned) on 17 hits, striking out none and walking two. Emily Kragt started in the circle first for Zeeland West Varsity Dux. The pitcher surrendered five hits and five runs (four earned) over two innings, striking out none and walking two.

Zeeland West Varsity Dux piled up 19 hits in the game. Jenna Hendricks, Veersma, and E Kragt each collected three hits for Zeeland West Varsity Dux. Sadie Kragt, Strabbing, Maggie Brower, and Wyckoff each collected multiple hits for Zeeland West Varsity Dux.

Zeeland West Varsity Dux welcome Oakridge on Wednesday for their next game at 4pm.
